Erica Steward, MACP, RCC

Hi, I’m Erica.
I strongly believe that people have the power to heal and become the best version of themselves, and I want to help you get there.
People come see me when they feel stuck, realize they place their personal worth in the hands of others, feel out of control in their emotions and thoughts, and desire better health and vibrancy in their life and relationships.
As a therapist, my approach is holistic, person-centered and strength-based. I want to understand what your unique life experiences mean to you, draw on your existing strengths and wisdom, and support you to experience greater clarity, integration and healing.
I’m known for creating a therapeutic space that is compassionate, collaborative and welcoming. I’ve helped many individuals and couples work through old and recent trauma, grief, chronic pain, anxiety and depression, communication struggles, and low self-esteem. In addition to my work as a counsellor in private practice, in the past I have worked with Pain BC, the BC Bereavement Helpline and the Kid’s Help Phone.

Alongside my 1-on-1 work, one of my great passions is working with couples. I help couples identify and understand their patterns of conflict, what keeps them stuck in these cycles, and ultimately how to get out (and stay out!) of these cycles so that their relationship can experience greater love, joy, and intimate connection.
For those new to counselling: I know how nerve-wracking and intimidating beginning this
process can be. Together, I believe we can discover what is holding you back from the experiences and life you dream of so that you can feel more ‘yourself’, healthy and alive.
I use a variety of approaches to find the best unique fit for each client including Internal Family
Systems, Emotion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Solution- Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness.
In my spare time, I embrace chances to grow in my personal and professional life. I love singing,
hiking, snowshoeing, trying out new recipes and spending quality time laughing with the ones I
love. Professionally, I take part in clinical supervision, post- graduate trainings, and personal
therapy as a way to keep deepening and growing as a clinician and person.
I am honoured to live, work, and play in the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples,
including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and
Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
Please reach out for a free 20 minute consult call, or to book a session today.
I look forward to walking alongside and supporting you in your healing and self-discovery journey!
